The work is dedicated to the current problem of today's as economic security, which is the most important segment of the state security system. It is a very wide and multi-purpose issue and includes a combination of defense, ecological, information and other factors. The paper deals with the system of its assessment indicators, which include economic indicators such as: the living standards, the level of inflation and the rate of unemployment, the economic growth, the budget deficit, the state debt , "Shadow Economy" level, income per capita, and so forth. And through which it is possible to assess the country's most important economic indicators, its competitiveness and the purpose of which is to determine the forthcoming economic threat.

The paper discusses a global phenomenon, such as the "shadow economy", which covered almost all areas of the economy of the world. The reasons of strengthening this phenomenon are indicated and is noted that the fight against it is the primary task of strengthening the economic security of the country.

Economic subjects and facilities are separately allocated and its main constituents are: economic dependence, sustainability and stability of the country's economy, the possibility self-development and progress.

It is noted that in modern conditions, it is especially important to ensure the competitiveness of the national economy in the international arena. External factors operating on the economic security of the country can be grouped as follows: political, economic, socio-demographic. To minimize their harmful influence is one of the most important economic tasks of the state.
